The Walgrave Wild Walking (WWW) group was formed during 2007 by Malcolm Campbell, a very experienced wild walker, and a qualified mountain leader.
At the time of writing, the Walgrave Wild Walking (WWW) group now comprises 30 members.
Walks can be arranged by any member, who contacts the rest of the group, via email. Typically 3 to 10 members turn out on each time.

Walgrave Wild Walkers (WWW) – how does it work?

The WWW method of working is very flexible. We do not have a ‘walking calendar, and suggestions for dates, ideas, and also amendments (even last minute postponement - maybe because the weather has turned nasty) to existing plans, are always emailed to the whole group.

The Walgrave Wild Walkers code states that any member of the WWW is welcome to join (and drop out of) a walk. Nobody should feel irrevocably committed to a walk, but should ensure that, if they are dropping out, the organiser is made aware. Remember that outings may be cancelled for any reason, including because of inclement weather, at short notice – so do make sure that the organiser knows your telephone number, and do check your email on the eve of departure.

There are a few qualified and aspirant Mountain Leaders amongst our members, but there is no established group organiser or event leader, although several members have considerable experience of walking in our moorland and mountain areas, particularly the Peak District and Snowdonia, and also in the Lake District and in Scotland. However, no liability is implied or accepted when organizing a walk; WWW Members join walks at their own risk.

As indicated by our group name, our walks are often wild and rough underfoot without necessarily being over strenuous! However, we do also from time to time undertake easier walks in the less mountainous areas. Transport for a particular trip is organised a day or so before. Anyone can volunteer (or not) to drive, with passengers contributing towards the cost of fuel.

A journal of walks, and some pictorial records, is maintained at www.tvjrdean.f9.co.uk
